Before starting your application, please have the following information at hand
DNI/NIE (National Id/Tax Id)
Submit it on both sides.Proof of ownership of the old vehicle
Owned for at least 1 year. You can submit the vehicle registration certificate or the last IVTM (Tax on Motor Vehicles) receipt.Change or de-registration of your old vehicle
You can submit the application for change of ownership registered with the DGT or, failing that, the certificate of scrapping the vehicle.

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions
Any natural person who has purchased a new electric vehicle after 26 January 2023 and has permanently deregistered a combustion engine vehicle that they have owned for at least 1 year.
It is essential that you indicate whether you have received any public subsidies for the same energy saving action. The replacement of a combustion engine vehicle by a pure electric vehicle is compatible with most grants such as MOVES.
Validation and payment can take from 2 to 6 months. To avoid delays, make sure that all documentation is correct, legible and complete. We will contact you if any of the documents you provide do not meet the Ministry's requirements and ask you to correct them.
- Purchase invoice for the new electric vehicle: usually provided at the time of purchase. A copy can be requested from the dealer.
- Technical data sheet for the old vehicle: is obtained at the MOT centre when you have your vehicle technically inspected. You can also request a duplicate at any MOT centre or through the DGT.
- Vehicle registration certificate. is obtained from the DGT when the vehicle is registered. It is usually found together with the vehicle documents. A duplicate can also be requested from the DGT.
- Last IVTM receipt: is obtained from the town council where the tax is paid. It can also be applied for in person or via the council's website.
- Certificate of scrapping: This is obtained from the scrapyard when the vehicle is handed over for destruction.
- Application for change or definitive deregistration recorded at the DGT: This is obtained from the DGT when you complete the procedure. It can be digitally downloaded.
- DNI (National Id): a photo or photocopy of your DNI on both sides.
- Bank account holder certificate: this is obtained through the bank. This can be done in person at a branch or through your bank's online banking or mobile app. There is generally no charge for this.
