Gas installation
Here you will find everything related to gas installations, to clear up any queries that may arise in your company.
What do meters do?
Measure your gas consumption. The meter can either belong to the customer or the distributor. If in your case it is the latter, you must pay a rental whose cost is determined annually via Ministerial Order.
The meter reading is the responsibility of the distributor, who will provide Iberdrola with the consumption so that a bill can be issued.
What should I know about boilers?
A gas boiler uses gas as fuel. Depending on their installation, they can either be floor-mounted, whose heating power is higher, or wall-mounted, the most common type, which are usually installed in a kitchen or bathroom. The gas boiler can be used for a single purpose (just for heating) or in a mixed way (for heating and domestic hot water).
Depending on their working, efficiency and consumption, a distinction can be made between types of boilers:
Standard boilers: traditional system. They are less efficient as they need to consume more energy to heat the water.
Condensing boilers: highly efficient They use the water vapour produced in the flue gas. Compared to conventional boilers, a saving in energy consumption and reduction in CO2 emissions and nitrogen oxide is achieved with condensing boilers.
Low temperature boilers: They can work continuously with a return water temperature (not boiler water temperature) of less than 40ºC. They are less efficient than condensing boilers, but more efficient than standard ones.
Depending on where the air that they use for combustion comes from, a distinction is made between atmospheric gas boilers (the air comes from the same room where the boiler is located) or sealed boilers (they take in the air from outside). The safest ones are sealed boilers.
What should I know about heaters?
The heater acts as central generating unit for hot water, which is piped through the plumbing installation to any of the supply points provided in the installation, whether taps or household appliances.
There are two types of basic heaters:
Open circuit: They take in the necessary air for gas combustion from the premises where they are installed and expel the gases to the exterior through the gas flue.
Watertight circuit: The air inlet and flue pipes do not have any contact with the premises where they are installed.
What should I know about ventilation grilles?
They must not cover or obstruct the ventilation of the place where the boiler/heater is installed.
They must be in perfect condition: it is very important that they are not obstructed in any way.
If you glaze the terrace, do not forget to open the ventilation grilles.
Remember that the gas flue is essential for the proper functioning of the appliances. Get a specialist to install it according to the current regulations.
